Bird Feeder Pine Cones

Pine cones are coated with peanut butter and seeds – a tasty snack for winter birds and a great crafting activity.

Children learn why birds need help in winter and can recognise different bird species.

Materials

Step by step

  1. 1

    Tie a string to each pine cone for hanging.

  2. 2

    Spread the cones generously with peanut butter or soft coconut fat.

  3. 3

    Roll the coated cones in the seed mix on a plate.

  4. 4

    Press extra sunflower seeds into the gaps.

  5. 5

    Hang the cones on a tree or on the balcony.

  6. 6

    Watch which birds come to visit and try to identify them.
