Making Seed Bombs

Little balls made from soil, clay and wildflower seeds that can grow new flower meadows anywhere. Perfect for young gardeners!

Learning goal

Children learn how seeds germinate, what conditions plants need to grow, and why wildflowers are important for insects.

Materials

Step by step

    Mix clay powder and potting soil 1:1 in a bowl.

  2. 2

    Stir in a handful of wildflower seeds.

  3. 3

    Slowly add water and knead everything into a mouldable dough.

  4. 4

    Shape walnut-sized balls and place them on baking paper.

  5. 5

    Let the seed bombs air-dry for 2–3 days.

  6. 6

    Press them into the ground at a suitable spot or simply throw them – and wait!
