Cress grows so fast on a moist base that children can see a green maze within just a few days.

Children observe rapid plant growth and understand how light and water influence growth.
Materials
Step by step

Line the dish with damp cotton wool or kitchen paper.
- 2
Cut small walls from cardboard and arrange them as a maze on the cotton wool.
- 3
Sprinkle cress seeds densely around the cardboard walls.
- 4
Spray thoroughly with the water bottle.
- 5
Place in a bright spot and moisten daily.
- 6
After 3–5 days admire the green maze – then put the cress on bread!
